Teachers: before you come.
This section is for teachers who want to shop. Turning up without an approved registration is the one thing that sends a teacher home empty-handed, and it takes a few minutes now and a few days to clear. Bringing a donation instead? Donors start here. Want to help out? Volunteers start here.
Do this first
- Register. One form for the school year. You will look yourself up on the Texas Education Agency certificate lookup and send us a screenshot, plus a photo of your school ID.
- Wait to be approved. A person checks every registration, so this is not instant. Leave a few days before the date you want.
- Watch for your ID#. We email it to your school address — receiving it there is part of how we confirm you work for the district. Everything after that (confirmations, reminders) goes to your personal address. You cannot book without the ID#.
- Book a time on the calendar below. We have to limit how many teachers shop at once — the floor only holds so many carts — and Saturdays fill first.
Public and charter school teachers, and teachers of record only. We cannot serve paraprofessionals, aides, substitutes who are not the teacher of record, administrators, or private, for-profit and homeschool educators.
Bring with you
- Your school ID. A volunteer checks it at the desk.
- Your ID# and your booked time. Both are in the email we sent you, and both are on your appointments page.
- Boxes, bags or a bin. There is no limit on what you take, but you carry out what you pick — and a full cart is heavier than it looks.
- Something you can work in. It is a shop floor: you will be on your feet, reaching shelves and lifting boxes into a car.
Only so many teachers can shop at once, so come at the time you booked rather than ahead of it. If the day you want is full and you only need a bagful, bring your own bag and check in at the door anyway — that puts you in the walk-in queue, and we can sometimes fit in someone who does not need a cart.

Step 1
Register
A short form confirms you teach at a Texas public or charter school — you upload your Texas educator certification and a school ID. Once approved, the store emails you a teacher ID#. That number is yours for the school year; use this number when you shop or make an appointment.
Step 2
Book and shop
Book a slot on the calendar, then bring your school ID, your ID# and something to carry it all in. We have to cap how many teachers shop at once, so book ahead — but there is no dollar limit and no cap on what you carry out.
Step 3
Check out
You scan your own items as you shop. At the desk a volunteer scans anything you missed or couldn't find a code for, adds the weight of what you are taking, and does a final check. No money changes hands — you pay nothing and drive home.

When the doors are open.
Two different kinds of day, and they are not interchangeable. Saturdays are for teachers, who shop by appointment. Wednesdays are drop-off only — donations come to the back door and the shop floor is closed. We are small, we are volunteers, and life happens — so hours can change. The average Texas teacher spends $750–$1,000 a year of their own money
on their own classroom. We are working on that number.
The barcodes are how we count. No money changes hands, but every scan adds to the running total of what the store has given away — the number that tells donors exactly where their supplies landed.

Teacher Reuse was founded in 2022 by Shelly O’Donnell, a retired Texas educator who taught Deaf Education and American Sign Language for twenty-six years. The idea is not complicated: leftover supplies are rarely used up, and what one school is done with can be exactly what a teacher three districts over needs. Teacher Reuse is a hub between the two. Teachers are also creative at repurposing supplies from community members and local businesses.

Donors: donate supplies
Office and classroom supplies, maker-space materials, storage, and small classroom furniture. Search any item and get a straight answer before you load the car — and note we cannot take books, binders or posters. Drop-offs come to the back door, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Can we take it?Supporters: donate funds
Money covers the rent on the storefront, the shelving, and the gas that moves donations across Texas. Monthly giving is what keeps the doors predictable.
Give once or monthlyVolunteers: give time
Sorting, shelving, and helping teachers find things are all done by volunteers. A shift is a few hours, and no experience with a label maker is required. You do not need an ID#, an appointment or any of the teacher paperwork — just a shift and the back door.

One way in: round the back
Everyone parks out front and walks round to the back door — teachers, donors and volunteers alike. The store is not open to Tanger’s shoppers, so there is no front counter to walk into.
You can drive round to the back to load or unload. Donors bring drop-offs straight there on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 10am–4pm; teachers can pull round to load a full cart into the car.
Teachers shop by appointment on the days marked on the calendar above — bring your ID# and your booked time. Please do not leave donations outside drop-off hours; boxes left at the door get rained on and the shop cannot use them. The Buda drop-off is closed; nothing left there is collected.
